SEG URL-rewriting wrapper (Proofpoint URL Defense / Mimecast) used to cloak a phishing link from a non-corporate sender

What this tier means
Warning signal — bulk / marketing / mild spam. Contributes to the trash score but is not by itself sufficient.
How Gorganizer detects this
Secure Email Gateway (SEG) URL-rewriting wrapper (Proofpoint URL Defense, Mimecast URL Protection, Barracuda ESS) found in an email from a non-corporate/non-trusted sender alongside a phishing narrative. Legitimate SEG URL-rewriting occurs when corporate emails pass through a gateway that rewrites outbound links to scan destinations at click time. The anomaly: SEG-wrapped URLs appearing in emails from non-corporate senders indicates either (a) the attacker forwarded their phishing email through a corporate account to get it wrapped, (b) the attacker manually crafted a URL mimicking Proofpoint/Mimecast encoding to appear official, or (c) a compromised corporate account forwarded a phishing message. The combination of a SEG-wrapper URL + account-action urgency + non-trusted sender is a high-precision tell. The signal fires when: (1) body contains a Proofpoint urldefense URL or Mimecast mimecastprotect URL AND (2) a phishing urgency/account-action narrative is present AND (3) sender is NOT from microsoft.com, proofpoint.com, mimecast.com, or similar trusted vendors AND (4) no List-Unsubscribe header. False-positive guard
Every signal in Gorganizer feeds a multi-module score — never a sole verdict. This is a warning-tier signal — bulk / marketing / mild spam. It contributes to the trash score but never triggers deletion on its own. Gorganizer requires multiple signals + a margin over the safety floor before any email is moved to trash.
About the scoring engine
Gorganizer's scoring engine emits over 1,800 signals across six modules — headers, sender, subject, body, attachments, and structural metadata. Every email is scored by every module independently; the final verdict requires multiple modules to agree and the trash score to beat the safety floor by a margin.
Sacred safety guards — never delete starred emails, replies, calendar invites, receipts/invoices, or attachments — apply unconditionally regardless of any signal.
